Common Questions
We understand that moving into somatic and breath-based work can feel new and sometimes vulnerable. Here are some of the things people often wonder as they begin their journey with Movement & Breath.
What is a Meditation & Breathwork or Mindful Movement session like?
Sessions are gentle, slow-paced, and deeply restorative. We begin with a check-in to see what your body needs. You might be guided through conscious breathing techniques or soft, intentional movements designed to calm your nervous system and release tension.
Everything is invitation-based; you are always in control of your experience.
Is this suitable for beginners or those with trauma histories?
Yes, absolutely. All sessions are 100% trauma-informed. We create a safe, consensual space where we move at a pace that honors your nervous system. Whether you are a complete beginner or navigating a sensitive history, these practices are designed to help you find a sense of safety and soulful release in your own body.
What should I wear, bring, and how do I prepare?
Wear soft, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to breathe and move freely. You don’t need special activewear. Bring a water bottle and perhaps a journal if you like to reflect after sessions.
To prepare, simply give yourself a few minutes of quiet before we begin to arrive into your space.
How do these sessions work alongside holistic counselling?
Integrating movement and breath with holistic counselling offers a full-spectrum approach to healing. While counselling explores the emotional and cognitive aspects of your journey, movement and breathwork address the somatic, body-stored patterns. Many find that this combination nurtures a more profound sense of grounding and overall wellbeing.
